Dead Crow Comedy Open Mic Night! 9pm, FREE at the Dead Crow Comedy Room
Ben Roy comes to the Dead Crow Comedy Room October 31st and November 1st at 8 pm and 10 pm. Ben Roy is one of the fastest up-and-coming comics that the Denver scene has to offer. A native of Maine and now living in Colorado, he is poised to take the entertainment industry by storm with his unique blend of rant, sarcastic, observational, and high-energy humor.
Featured in the book ‘Mock Stars: Indie Comedy and the Dangerously Funny’, alongside comedy greats Patton Oswalt, Maria Bamford, and Fred Armisen, author John Wenzel described him as, ‘gloriously erratic, mixing Louis Black’s quivering indignation with Bill Hicks’ vitriol and David Cross’s unapologetic misanthropy.” The Onion A.V. Club said “he’s like a skinny, punk-rock Sam Kinison.”
He has been a finalist in several local and national competitions, was selected to perform at the Boston Comedy Festival, The Laughing Skull Comedy Festival, The Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival, the MTV Comedy Showcase, and The Just for Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival. After his performances on the New Faces show he was invited to perform as part of the Best of the Fest.
In 2011 the Denver Post picked him as one of seven people in the Denver area as a pathmaker for the following year. 5280 Magazine, Colorado’s most widely distributed magazine, voted him 2011 Top of The Town in their personalities category. He is a regular headliner at the Denver Comedy Works, a husband, and a father.
Late Fear with Wills Maxwell is a weekly live late night talk show. The Cape Fear’s late night show takes place Saturday nights at midnight.
Local comedians create a new series to display local talent
Wilmington, NC is the home for the new late night talk series “Late Fear with Wills Maxwell”. The show will be filmed in front of a live audience in the Dead Crow Comedy Room nearly every Friday night at midnight. The show’s audience will consist of more than just those seated in the comedy club as every episode of the show will be live streamed online. Viewers from all over the world can get online and watch the show live.
The show’s host and producer, Wills Maxwell, conceived the show to serve as an exhibition of the local talent. “I created the show out of my belief that Wilmington is a special place,” says Wills “So every week I want to feature talented comedians, musicians, authors, business owners, everyone who works in this town and helps form this creative, supportive community. I want to show my town off to the world.” The show’s writing staff consists of Wills, the show’s announcer Jonathan Schwartz and is rounded out by Timmy Booth, Drew Harrison, Lydia Manning, Matt White and Cordero Wilson. All of the writers are comedians who perform at the Dead Crow Comedy Room.
The show recently launched a crowd funding campaign to raise money for live stream equipment. They hope to raise $800 by September 7th. The link to donate is listed below. “Late Fear with Wills Maxwell” will premiere Friday, September 12th after stand-up comedian Dave Waite performs.
