Few battles are momentous enough to echo into eternity. The Rebels versus the Empire. The Sharks versus the Jets. Alien versus Predator. And now, Wilmington will witness the clash of two powerhouse comedy troupes. It’s the most important Comedy Cage Match of the century.
Since 2009, the Nutt Street Comedy Room has forged a reputation as Wilmington’s premiere comedy club. Their team of respectable improvisers regularly draw crowds and laughs, bringing them victory and the title of Encore’s Best Comedy Troupe of 2012. Safely nestled in their ivory tower on Front Street, they fear no challengers to their comic supremacy.
But a challenger has arisen! Pineapple-Shaped Lamps, having recently left their home of three years, is out to prove something. Fresh from receiving a Wilmington Theater Award for Best Original Production, this gang of wacky sketch comedians is itching for a scrap — and some itch cream.
This confrontation comes to a head on February 27th at the Nutt Street Comedy Room. Tickets are $5. Doors open at 8:00pm, show starts at 9:00pm. Nutt Street comedians will perform their improvisation games, and Pineapple-Shaped Lamps will perform their sketches. The audience will decide which troupe stands victorious.
Let the games begin!
