Three months ago, Wilmington witnessed a comedic clash that left the Port City shaken to its very foundation
with laughter. Pineapple-Shaped Lamps, Wilmington’s premiere sketch comedy troupe, sought out their
downtown rivals the Nutt House, those improvisers extraordinaire, in a Comedy Cage Match for the ages.
Through laughter and tears, audience suggestions and final drafts, the two troupes fought tooth and nail for the
title of Best Comedy Group Ever. After the dust had cleared, Nutt House stood victorious. With respect and
mutual admiration, Pineapple-Shaped Lamps left the hollows of the Nutt Street Comedy Room to retreat to the
safety of their Writers’ Room.
But winter is over. Summer has come. After taking a pilgrimage to the holy land of comedy, Chicago, Illinois,
Pineapple-Shaped Lamps has returned with a vengeance. With fresh script, sharpened wits, and a whole lot of
spunk, Pineapple-Shaped Lamps has demanded a rematch and Nutt House has accepted. But this time, the
game is different. Rules change. The Nutt House Improv Team will be forced to leave their Front Street Hobbit
Hole and seek Pineapple-Shaped Lamps on their own turf. Past the 5th Street roundabout, beyond the Cape
Fear Museum, in the land of 10th and Dock, lays TheatreNOW. The mammoth yellow castle of theatre has
taken PSL in and there, they have fortified their ranks. Their new sketch series, PSL Presents, has sent waves
of laughter into the Wilmington night and now…now, they are ready to rumble.
COMEDY CAGE MATCH: ROUND TWO! rocks the TheatreNOW House on May 25th on the corner of 10th
and Dock. Tickets are $5. Doors open at 9:00pm with a 9:30pm curtain. Nutt House will perform their improv
games, and PSL will perform their sketches. But only YOU can decide the outcome.
