The Wilmington, NC comedy scene is coming together to help stand-up comic, Sean Webb, in his time of need. Sean is a husband, father of two boys, friend, actor, and a staple in the local Wilmington, NC comedy scene. In August of this year, Sean was diagnosed with melanoma. After a surgery to remove cancerous lymph nodes in his neck and radiation treatment, the hope was that Sean would be cancer free. Recently, he went for another test that indicated cancer was still present and may have spread to other parts of his body. So Sean is preparing for the next round of this battle, which will include radiation and chemotherapy. Sean, who works with people with special needs, will be unable to work while in treatment. With the holidays approaching, this could not have come at a worse time. Sean has always been involved with fundraising to help those in need. He has performed in “Laughing for Life” a benefit comedy show for families with a member battling cancer and produced the annual “5 Minutes to Wapner” a benefit show to raise funds for Autism research.
To help with his expenses during his time of need, which will exceed $20,000, members of the local comedy community have scheduled a benefit show on November 22nd, 2013. The show will take place at Orton’s, at 133 North Front Street, and start at 7:30 pm. A minimum donation of $5 will be asked at the door. During the event, a 50/50 drawing will be held. They also set up a website to spread the word and help collect donations outside of the show that can be found here: http://laughseanscanceraway.portcitycomedy.com/
