5 Places To Get Cheap Tacos In Wilmington

Let’s face it comedians don’t always have a lot of money because they are spending their money on getting to and from gigs or maybe on booze so they are always looking for places to get a deal for some eats so if you don’t have the cash or just want to save some money follow the local comics!

  1. Islands Fresh Mex Grill:
    When – Everyday
    Price – $1.00 – $1.99+
    Extras – Drink and Chips
    With four locations you are closer to some cheap eats then you thought. Before 5 pm all tacos are just $1.99, after 5 pm the veggie, beef and chicken tacos are just $1.00! If you want steak, pork or tilapia they are $1.99. You must purchase a drink to get this special but you get some chips so you have a full meal. Seriously where are you getting a better deal than this! You can get hard or soft shell, three toppings and a sauce if you want more then it’s just $.35 which is pretty reasonable. This is a daily special so keep this in mind when you gotta break that emergency piggy bank or you’re looking in the couch cushions and on the floor boards for food money!
  2. Dead Crow Comedy Room:
    When – Every Tuesday at 7 pm – Close
    Price – $2.00
    Extras – $2.00 Drink Special, $2.00 Nachos & Comedy Biingo Show

    Wilmington’s only full time comedy club Dead Crow Comedy Room not only serves up the laughs 5 days a week it also serves up a fantastic menu of food and drinks to enjoy! On Tuesday nights the long running free Comedy Biingo show is a fun interactive show hosted by local comedian Louis Bishop the show starts at 8 pm(ish) audience members can play a variety of familiar games with a comedic twist the Biingo Show has various comedians from locals to nationally touring comedians telling their jokes as the audience members mark off the words they hear on their comedy biingo cards winners of the games can select various prizes such as tickets to the weekend headliner shows at Dead Crow that weekend, tickets to the weekly Improv show at the Dead Crow on Wednesday nights, various sponsor prizes and a random prize from the mystery box. Oh yeah this article is about cheap food, they have that too, the doors for the show open at 7 pm and they serve $2.00 tacos beef, chicken and black bean tacos are available, they also have tempeh tacos for those looking for non-meat alternatives. You can enjoy a $2.00 select draft beer special, $2.00 select shot special and $2.00 nachos (My girlfriend’s favorite).
  3. Hell’s Kitchen:
    When – Tuesdays 4 pm to close
    Price – $1.00 – $2.00
    Extras – Various drink specials, every sports package on the 11 TV’s & projection screen

    Hell’s Kitchen is a local Wilmington Bar long before the Fox TV show with chef swears a lot that was a location for the TV show “Dawson Creek” (don’t pretend you didn’t watch it). Check out their website they have some great weekly food and drink specials to keep some money in your pocket and your belly well fed. On Tuesday nights from 4pm to close they have $1.00 chicken, beef and veggie tacos and just $2.00 for fish tacos. If you are a sports fanatic check out the 11 TV’s and projection screen showing the latest games for your enjoyment. Live bands and a monthly comedy show Comedy In Hell hosted by local touring comedian Jamie Stone round out this local favorite watering hole.
  4. K38:
    When – Monday and Wednesday starting 5 pm
    Price – $2.00 – $3.00
    Extras – Margarita Special (Monday)

    K38 has two locations one on Oleander Drive and one off Market Street in Porters Neck. They are part of a group of great local Mexican inspired restaurants throughout the Wilmington area who are heavily involved in the surf community, the local humane society and the local charity hope from Helen. On Monday nights you can enjoy $3.00 fish tacos and margaritas on Wednesday you can get $2.00 hard shell tacos with ground beef, pulled chicken and black bean. These specials start after 5pm and are for dine in only. So fill your belly, save some cash and do some good for the local community.
  5. Flaming Amy’s Burrito Barn:
    When – Tuesday
    Price – $1.00 – 10% less with a tattoo

    Extras – $3.00 beer special and a salsa bar
    Flaming Amy’s Burrito Barn is a local favorite known for their tremendous burritos that last most people multiple meals and variety of fresh made salsa’s served in a salsa bar. They sell jars of salsa to benefit local charities and the military! On Tuesday they have $1.00 hard shell tacos to fill your belly on the cheap and if you have some ink just flash your tattoo to the person at the register and get 10% off of your purchase. A local business that has a heart besides helping various charities and the military they also push shopping local at businesses like Gravity Records just bring your receipt and you can save 10% on your meal and vice-versa at Gravity Records. Gravity Records who coincidentally has a monthly comedy showcase run by the Cute Boys Club so go grab some cheap tacos that support some good, save money with those tattoos your mom disapproves of and check out a comedy show at one of the coolest record stores in the country!
